THE PALACE

The Aura of life emanating from the great palace is unimaginable…these were the thoughts of Ramakrishna, on his visit to the village at the far end of the civilization of this modern world, sinking the feeling of watching a great architectural example of those times. People as usual feared to get into it, still he found it very much intriguing. The Haveli has been said to be the home of the greatest king, a warrior and an honest human being, with profound intellect. The kings thrived over 700 years ago. The audacity of the strength of the palace standing 700 years of turmoil has indeed caught Ramakrishna’s eye. The entire palace has been sheathed with a green layer. Cracks on the wall were there to show their existence. The very existence of the palace to this date is a tribute to the architectural marvels of those times. The protagonist decided to go into the palace. The door was 20 feet in width and 40 feet high, huge chains guarded the door. The villagers came along with him, after a discussion of nearly 3hrs. The shackles of the palace were down. Everyone entered the palace. “Devils will be there baba, we will go home”, said a villager. “I do not believe in ghosts, Ramu”, said Ramakrishna. There were no lights, only fire torches were there. One of them lit the torch with the matchstick, and then another world opened up to them. Everything they touched was gold or a wooden treasure. The paintings were covered with dust. The dust settled every where. There was no place without dust. The huge chandeliers, the floor, the ceiling, the stairs leading up to two storeys, all had dust, and apart from the dust part, everything they saw was through a shield of spider webs. It was dusk; they retreated to the main village.
The entire village gathered around a big tree at the heart of the village. They were explained that there were no ghosts and the palace had countless treasures in it, along with the history of the palace. After persuasion which carried late into that night, few more people joined RamaKrishna.
The next day around two scores of villagers had come along to help Ramakrishna. Ramakrishna is actually an archaeologist who is here on small information he came by, about the palace which had been abandoned for centuries. A middle aged man, he was the brightest among all of his classmates in the top university. The main reason for him to be here is to understand the culture of that era which has been masked by baseless believes about the presence of Ghosts. At the start of the day, after all the prayers, the group started for the palace. The cleaning of the entire palace started. All the villagers were really excited to enter the inner sanctuary to witness how it looks to be a palace, a place where they were denied entry. Each and everyone were more than amazed to witness the eye catching golden reserves and the comfort which the kings enjoyed. After nearly three hours, finally, the entire dust had been cleared. The villagers were given instruction not to take anything until the dust was dusted. There was no one who had disobeyed that. Then, after that, Ramakrishna started to do his work. He started with the scrolls which he gathered. He was amazed to see that the dialect they used was closed to the present day local language, easily understandable. The first scroll he opened contained information on the borders of the kingdom. The second scroll contained the information about the palace, the exact date of construction and the start of palace being used as the home to the king, in the solar calendar. The third scroll contained a message from the other king for a truce. The fourth had a detailed description of the war with another country. After nearly a fifty scrolls, which spoke of the kings, their administration, the clan of the king, describing almost every individual, Ramakrishna tumbled upon the most important scroll-the palace blueprint. And after about a score of other scrolls, he got the hold of the scroll which had the entire description of treasure of the king. The coins, modern phrase money, were there right underneath the palace. The great palace bore the treasure of the kings of that dynasty, which they have accumulated in a couple of century’s time. The villagers retreated for the day, along with Ramakrishna.
The following day, the archaeological along with the national press turn up for unearthing the treasure. The villagers who helped the previous day started digging the floor and after the one hundred and forty forth hit, the gold started to surface, after sometime, the cold coins were of different types and of different shapes, the wealth of all kingdoms of those time – a priceless treasure. The coins where in a total of about fifty thousand coinsThe officials started to give interview, it was found out that the treasure valued to about 1000 crore in the present day currency, then, Ramakrishna came forward and showed the will of the king to the press and all it said was-
“In case the kingdom heir dies, the treasure belongs to the citizens of the kingdom alone, and the person who finds out gets thousand gold coins”.
Villagers became millionaires overnight that day, and Ramakrishna became world famous.
