Nostalgic times ! ! !

The village of chandrapuram was a highly appreciated village which produced eminent personalities – which include a MLA, a MP, a collector and a Ramu. He was the most famous personality at the age of eleven, a great number of village lads knew him, many of the other village lads wanted to beat him to bed. Those were the days when India won the cricket world cup, pretty recently (4 years back). The boys and men alike played cricket with such an enthusiasm that they believed themselves to be Kapil Dev or Mohinder Amarnath. The mandal in which chandrapuram was situated had many disputes, and they were settled by a cricket match. Like, the other time around, chandrapuram farmers had difficulty with the farmers of andalapuram. The river flowed from the other village to theirs. The river water was completely used by the other village, allowing desperately low water for the cultivation by the farmers of chandrapuram. That was settled by a cricket match, chandrapuram beat the other village.
The collector was also a cricket freak. He wanted to organize a cricket tournament of all the villages in the mandal and he stated that they would be considering the best player’s education fund until he gets a job. No boy or the parents could resist such an offer, every body wanted to play or watch the tournament.
The boys in the mandal had the best time in their short life. All they had to do was play and nothing else and they will not have to fear about their parents scolding. The entire village gathered for the day when the tourament kick started. All waited eagerly for the team of Chandrapuram to play. The stories cricket bat of Ramu flew far and wide, he was the trump card for their team, and the first match was against the deadly team of virabhadrapuram, the fiercest blowers – Shankar and Shiva, who played along with Ramu, as a team player for the mandal team. The great match, when it started had the entire field full of supporters. People came from all the mandal which consisted of over 150 villages. The match began.
The other team was bowled out for a meare 50runs and Ramu was, with the practice he did, scored a 30 of them and the remaining by 6 of them, convincing win against a team which had shankar and shiva.
The team slowly progressed till the finals and then, a valiant 100 runs by Ramu went in vain, his team lost, but, he won.
Ramu was a eleven year old lad, twenty years back. On that day, the date read July 15, 1988. He stood at the same land which catapulted him to fame. He parked his car at the edge of the open area where some boys were playing cricket and then he asked for a few balls to be thrown to him, so that he could play them, a lot was going in his mind………….
